Karl Yulo makes floor exercise finals in FIG Artistic Gymnastics tilt

Joey Villar - Philstar.com

MANILA, Philippines — Karl Eldrew Yulo has dangerously gotten better and better each competition.

And the 18-year-old dynamo from Leveriza in Manila made another big leap by barging into the floor exercise finals in the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Series in Osijek, Croatia Thursday.

Yulo elicited a 14.200, his best thus far in the apparatus in the senior level after a 14.000 that sealed him a bronze in Cairo, Egypt a few days back and 14.100 that copped him the gold in Antalya, Turkey less than a month back.

Only American Kamerson Nelson finished better than Yulo in Osijek after the former drew a 14.300.

Included in that group that cracked the medal round was Ukrainian-borne Israeli Artem Dolgopyat, who had a 14.133.

Interestingly, Dolgopyat bested Yulo’s elder brother Carlos in seizing the Tokyo Olympics floor exercise mint but the latter exacted revenge three years later by ruling the same apparatus in Paris, France.

Expect Yulo, who had already scooped up a gold and a couple of bronzes in all in the World Cup Series, to come in more determined to eclipse his previous best come the final round.
