Blazers keep five-peat dream alive

MANILA, Philippines — St. Benilde isn’t fading quietly or giving up its five-peat dream without a fight.
The Lady Blazers proved it yesterday, defeating the Letran Lady Knights, 25-18, 25-21, 27-25, to force a deciding Game Three in the NCAA Season 101 women’s volleyball finals at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
“After we lost the first game, we just told ourselves that we can still come back—I still can,” said CSB middle blocker Zam Nolasco, who was named season MVP earlier and delivered a match-high 19 points.
The win tied the series at 1-1 and set up the decider tomorrow at the same Manila venue.
CSB’s bid for a fifth straight crown looked to be slipping away after a 17-25, 25-23, 20-25, 25-14, 15-11 loss in Sunday’s opener, which moved Letran closer to ending a 27-year title drought.
But Nolasco and the Lady Blazers refused to fold.
