Bolts rebound, zap Giant Risers

MANILA, Philippines — Back on track.
After absorbing their first loss in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup, the Meralco Bolts zoomed back to the win column after taking down the Titan Ultra Giant Risers, 118-105, Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Fresh off a loss against Rain or Shine last time around, Meralco saw five Bolts score in double digits to grab the win over Titan Ultra.
CJ Cansino had a team-high 26 points, six rebounds and five assists in the win, while import Marvin Jones had 24 markers, 14 boards and three dimes before fouling out after almost 33 minutes of action.
Meralco jumped to a 21-point lead, 61-40, in the first half as they hit the ground running.
The lead grew to 28, 86-58, in the third after a split from the line by Chris Banchero.
Rookie guard Bryan Sajonia, though, led the charge for the Giant Risers. His hot shooting towed Titan to within eight, 89-97, in the final frame.
But an 11-1 run, capped by a Jones deuce, pushed the lead back to 18, 108-90, with about two minutes to go.
This separation was too good to come back from, as Meralco breezed through to the finish line.
Bong Quinto had 15 points for the Bolts, while Jason Brickman had 13. Javee Mocon chipped in 11 points in the win.
Sajonia powered Titan with 29 points on 9-of-15 shooting. Michael Gilmore tallied 25 markers and 16 boards for the now-1-3 Giant Risers.
