Tropang 5G crush Beermen

MANILA, Philippines -- Too strong and too good.
The TNT Tropang 5G were simply too much for June Mar Fajardo and the rest of the Beermen, as the defending champions blasted San Miguel, 118-92, Saturday evening at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Tropang 5G jumped to a massive double-digit lead as early as the first quarter, as they never looked back in the huge win.
In a highly anticipated matchup with Fajardo, 7-foot-3 import Bol Bol carried the offensive load for TNT with 34 points on 14-of-28 field goal shooting, to go with 18 rebounds and a block. Calvin Oftana backstopped with 18 markers, three boards and three dimes.
The game was tight at 14-12 in the first quarter after a split from the line by Marcus Lee.
But a backbreaking 19-0 run capped by a layup by Bol pushed the lead to 21 at the 1:50 mark of the first.
This set the tone for the rest of the game, as the lead grew to as much as 29 points, 97-68, with 9:38 remaining.
The Beermen then tried -- and failed -- to get back in the match.
Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser had 13 points for TNT, to go with four rebounds, two blocks, an assist and a steal. Justin Chua chipped in 11 markers and three boards.
Lee turned up with his best San Miguel outing thus far with 30 points and 14 rebounds. Fajardo had 15 markers and 20 boards for the Beermen, while CJ Perez and Don Trollano added 12 points each.
San Miguel dropped to 1-2 while TNT rose to 2-1 in the standings.
