Junior Lady Altas on cusp of crown
MANILA, Philippines — The Perpetual Help Junior Lady Altas moved on the cusp of reclaiming the NCAA crown following a straight-sets toppling of their Arellano University counterpart yesterday at the Arellano Gym in Pasay City.
Sherrie Rose Acosta and Elizha Sildo put in 14 points apiece to lead a dominant performance by the Junior Lady Altas in a 25-19, 25-11, 25-23 triumph in the opener of the NCAA Season 101 girls volleyball best-of-three title showdown.
Coach Sandy Rieta’s troops go for the jugular in Game 2 at 8 a.m. Monday versus the very team that stripped them of the title last year.
It took the Junior Lady Altas one hour and 14 minutes to take the opener with Acosta hammering 12 points on attacks plus a block and an ace going with eight excellent receptions. Sildo also had 12 attack points on top of two blocks, three digs and two receptions.
