Quiban, Bisera tighten grip on lead

CABANATUAN CITY , Philippines — Justin Quiban strengthened his hold on the P3 million ICTSI Lakewood Championship with an eagle-aided 68 that extended his lead to five strokes over Ryan Monsalve after two rounds yesterday.

After a record-setting 62 Tuesday, Quiban’s steady 33-35 round under another scorching day proved more than enough to widen the gap between him and the rest of the elite field.

Monsalve mounted a strong charge, carding a 67 he also highlighted by an eagle to climb to solo second. Still, Quiban’s 36-hole aggregate of 14-under 130 gave him firm control, with Monsalve trailing at 135.

Meanwhile, Yvon Bisera sustained her blistering form and tightened her grip on the LPGT play, carding a 69 for a three-shot lead over Lois Kaye Go.

Bisera birdied all but one of the Lakewood Golf and Country Club course’s long holes over two rounds, underscoring a dominant blend of firepower and finesse.
