MANILA, Philippines -- The Adamson Lady Falcons returned to the win column after blasting the lowly Ateneo Blue Eagles, 25-17, 27-25, 25-16, in their UAAP Season 88 women’s volleyball clash Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Adamson thus rose to joint-fourth with a 5-4 win-loss record but has the inside track over University of Santo Tomas.

The Lady Falcons defeated the Tigresses in three sets in the first round.

Shai Nitura exploded for Adamson with 25 points on 19 attacks, four blocks and two aces to go with 15 receptions and two digs. Frances Mordi chipped in 15 markers and 12 receptions.

“For us, we need always na magng consistent target talaga kami sa aming ginagawa Especially na galing kami sa talo noong nakaraan, so ngayon, kailangan namin bumawi,” Adamson head coach JP Yude told reporters after the game.
“Kailangan namin mag-ggrind talaga ng total hard work so that na makapasok kami sa final four because crucial game na yung mga natitira,” he added.
“So we need to always be more consistent, and then maging mentally tough every time on how we respond in every situation.”

After a hard-fought second set victory, Adamson led by five, 9-14, in the third set.

Slowly, the Lady Falcons broke the set wide open after an attack error by Zey Pacia, 20-10.

This was the separation Adamson needed as Ateneo tried desperately, and failed, to inch closer.

Zel Tsunashima and Alex Montoro had nine points each for Ateneo, while Zey Pacia and Jihan Chuatico backstopped with eight apiece for the 1-8 Blue Eagles.
