MANILA, Philippines -- Rain or Shine kept the Macau Black Knights winless in the PBA, pulling away in the final minute en route to a 116-109 in their Commissioner’s Cup tussle Saturday at the Ynares Center in Montalban, Rizal.

The Elasto Painters thus ushered in the import-laden conference with a victory while dropping Macau to a 0-2 start.

Jaylen Johnson erupted for Rain or Shine with 29 points, 24 rebounds, six assists, two steals and a block in his PBA debut.

Adrian Nocum chipped in 19 markers, five boards, four dimes and four steals, while Jhonard Clarito filled up the statsheet with16 points, nine rebounds and four assists.

The game was tied at 107 with 1:05 remaining after a pair of free throws by Chon Pong Lao.

But a technical foul called on Macau’s Tony Mitchell on the rebound play on the other end led to a free throw by Gian Mamuyac that tipped the scale to Rain or Shine’s favor, 108-107, with 46.6 seconds remaining.

This was then followed by an and-one plat by Nocum that made it a four opoint advantage, 111-107 with 40.5 ticks left.

A dunk by Mitchell made it closer, 109-111, with 22.2 seconds remaining.

Macau tried to trap in the backcourt, but it left Clarito open on the other end, as he converted a layup that kept the Black Knights at bay, 113-109, with 20.5 seconds to go.

After a Lao triple missed, Clarito and Johnson iced the game with free throws that set the final score.

Macau led by double digits in the second quarter, taking a lead as high as 12 points, 58-46, after a layup by Phoenix Shackelford.

Rain or Shine, though, stormed back and took the lead before the game turned into a see-saw battle in the fourth.

Mamuyac had 11 points and five rebounds for the Elasto Painters, who recorded 20 second chance points and 23 fast break points.

Shackelford powered Macau with 25 points, eight assists and seven rebounds in the losing effort, while Damian Chong Qui and Jenning Leung tallied 22 and 20 points, respectively.
