John Carl Catayong shone with a double-double of 22 points and 13 boards apart from three assists, while JayR Pronda added 18 and seven rebounds for PCU-D which finished the first round at 5-3.
Lyceum of the Philippines U-Batangas scored a 65-59 win over Immaculada Concepcion College to end up with the same mark.
The second round starts tomorrow.
