Junior Altas thwart Squires

MANILA, Philippines — After a disappointing three-set loss to Arellano on Monday, the defending champion Perpetual Junior Altas Spikers returned to winning form and beat the Letran Squires, 25-20, 24-26, 25-21, 25-19, in the NCAA Season 101 juniors volleyball tournament at the Arellano Gym in Pasay yesterday.
Daryl Torio and Gabriel Macaturo led the Junior Altas’ charge on the way to a seventh win against two losses.
Torio and Macatuno delivered 10 points each, while Limuel Villarama (with five blocks) and Cholo Bustamante contributed nine hits apiece. Setter Symon Suyat had five excellent sets while Libero JM Regorosa had six digs and five excellent receptions.
Meanwhile, LPU GenTri repulsed the JRU Girls, 25-15, 25-10, San Beda topped La Salle Greenhills, 25-15, 24-26, 25-17, and Arellano U nipped EAC. 25-22, 25-17
