CrossFire: Legends seeks growth in Philippines

MANILA, Philippines — With its recent global release, CrossFire: Legends (CFL) is eyeing the Philippines as a cornerstone of its Southeast Asian esports plans, following the country's hosting of the inaugural CrossFire Legends Southeast Asia Championship (CFLC) 2026.
"The Philippines is our primary target and our biggest focus in the CFL. We've already held several tournaments in the Philippines before the competition, such as the qualifying tournament held at the end of last year. We want our players and spectators to know that holding tournaments in the Philippines is one of our desired outcomes,” said Jiahao Lin, CrossFire Esports brand lead, in a media interview.
The local hosting is not only a milestone event but also a promise of a long-term strategy, targeting a region that has had a solid foundation in CrossFire.
"The Philippines has a long history and strong foundation for our CrossFire IP, with over ten years of players — a very large number and scale. We've also observed that these users have a very high level of enthusiasm for our game, whether it's mobile or PC games. This is evident in the country's best-ever result: a runner-up finish in last year's CrossFire Stars grand finals. This ignited esports passion throughout the country and gives CrossFire: Legends a solid foundation in the country," added Lin.
Besides the solid foundation of the CrossFire brand in the country, Lin also notes how passionate and enthusiastic esports fans are in the country and how this had been a huge insight with the country's hosting of the first CFLC grand finals.
"The enthusiasm and cheers from the Filipino fans in the audience far exceeded our expectations. This was truly a testament to fan's love for CrossFire. Since this was our first time hosting the finals offline, we believe that future events, both in terms of offline participation and the availability of a larger audience, are necessary. Because this event was largely invitation-only, and due to venue limitations and safety concerns, we couldn't invite as many viewers as possible. Next time, we will definitely expand our stage. We hope to accommodate more Filipino fans to watch our matches. This is something we hope to do even better next time. The Philippine audience was big and passionate, so our expectations for the Philippines are very high,” said Lin.
With an already established player network and a strong fanbase for CrossFire in the country, Lin believes that the Philippines will be a key region for the growth of the mobile FPS game in Southeast Asia as well as throughout the globe.
He adds, "Our promise to our players is that in 2026, we will definitely treat the Philippines as a key esports hub in Southeast Asia, viewing it as such and developing our strategies accordingly. Furthermore, we will not only invest in official tournaments but also invest more in long-term esports partnerships with our community ecosystem partners. We will work with our community and ecosystem partners to grow and expand CrossFire: Legends."
