MANILA, Philippines — Converge injected experience and toughness to its youth-laden crew by acquiring veteran Calvin Abueva from Titan Ultra.

The FiberXers grabbed the rights to the 37-year-old Abueva in exchange for King Caralipio, Rey Suerte and rookie Mark Omega. The 1-for-3 deal was approved by the PBA Commissioner’s Office yesterday.

In Abueva, a two-time Best Player of the Conference winner and one-time PBA champion, Converge got a forward who’s tough on both ends and big on hustle plays.

“The Beast” is joining the FiberXers riding the crest of his stellar performance in the recent PBA Philippine Cup, where he averaged a 23.60-point and 11.90-rebound double-double and placed third in the race for the BPC award.
