It’s Van der Valk vs Jahns for crown
STA. Rosa, Laguna , Philippines — Guido van der Valk and Keanu Jahns forged an unlikely but compelling showdown for the ICTSI The Country Club Match Play Invitational crown.
With a solid play highlighted by an ace on the 171-yard No. 3 using a 7-iron and Srixon ball, Van der Valk fueled a charge enroute to a 3&2 win over Clyde Mondilla in the semis. In the morning the Dutch ace scored a 5&4 rout of Mike Bibat.
Jahns carved out his own dominant semifinal win, a 6&4 dismantling of Reymon Jaraula, completing a day that began with a narrow escape against the wily Tony Lascuña.
In ladies play, Martina Miñoza and Mafy Singson stormed into the finals.
Miñoza clawed back for a gritty 2&1 decision over Harmie Constantino, while Singson edged Daniella Uy with a clutch birdie on the 17th to secure a 1-up triumph.
The day demanded power, precision and mental toughness with both finalists weathering momentum swings.
