MANILA, Philippines — After being elected as new president of the Philippine National Volleyball Federation, Tonyboy Liao vowed to push the PNVF to greater heights under his term.

“Our hope is to continue making Philippine volleyball better,” said Liao, whose 13-member board swept the elections held in Taguig Friday night.

First order of business is the country’s participation in next month’s Southeast Asian Games in Thailand where Alas Pilipinas hopes to medal in both men’s and women’s volleyball and beach volley.

Also getting posts at PNVF were Dr. Arnel Hajan as chairman, Yul Benosa as vice president, Ottie Camangian as secretary-general, Ricky Palou as treasurer and Roger Banzuela as auditor with Michael Vargas, Sherwin Maganda, Danilo Cong-O, Edward Lee, Charo Soriano, Fr. Vic Calvo, OP, and Ma. Soccorro Calleja as board members.

Liao said a total of 47 voting members, including former president Ramon Suzara himself, cast their votes. Philippine Olympic Committee secretary-general Atty. Wharton Chan came as observer.
