Ancajas outpoints Casero in US return

MANILA, Philippines — Former world champion Jerwin Ancajas pulled off a pretty win in his return to the United States, defeating Ruben Casero via majority decision Sunday (Manila time) at the Thunder Studios in Long Beach, California.
The “Pretty Boy” picked his opponent apart with crisp jabs and combinations to grab his third straight victory.
He also connected on counters as he dominated his Uruguayan opponent in the eight-round super bantamweight match.
Two judges scored the bout 80-72, while the third had it a 76-76 draw.
Ancajas thus improved to a win-loss-draw record of 37-4-2 (with 24 knockouts). This is his first victory on US soil since a technical knockout win over Wilner Soto in Minneapolis back in 2023.
Since losing via knockout against Takuma Inoue last year in Japan, the 33-year-old former International Boxing Federation junior bantamweight champion won via disqualification against Sukpasried Ponphitak and by technical knockout over countryman Richie Mepranum in Manila.
Casero, for his part dropped to 13-5 (win-loss) with 5 KOs.
