Robins-Hardy tows Foxies to quarterfinals

MANILA, Philippines -- Alohi Robins-Hardy continued to carry Farm Fresh on her shoulders as the Foxies drained the energy out of the Capital1 Solar Spikers with a 25-20, 25-15, 25-21 victory Saturday to barge into the Premier Volleyball League on Tour quarterfinals at the Dasmarinas Arena in Cavite.
Robins-Hardy was the blood that kept Farm Fresh's heart beating as she dished out 15 excellent sets that went with five points in powering the fledgling franchise to its breakthrough playoff appearance since joining the pros two years ago.
“Its just my teammates, I have confidence in them,” said the 29-year-old Filipino-American setter, who had to go through this year’s rookie draft where she was picked third overall due to a league technicality.
“I tried my best just to put up a good balance for them. And they do what they do best, which is score points,” she added.
The win set up Farm Fresh against powerhouse Creamline in another knockout affair set next week at the PhilSports Arena.
Under Robins-Hardy’s guidance, the Foxies’ attack hummed with Trisha Tubu leading the way with 15 hits and Caitlin Viray, Lorene Toring and Jolina dela Cruz scattering 11, 11 and 10 points, respectively.
In contrast, Capital1 just couldn’t get anything going and just faded into the night and out of the pre-season showcase where it finished winless in six outings.
