Gibbons: Pacquiao was robbed

LAS VEGAS — There’s no one inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena that was more upset than Sean Gibbons this Saturday evening.
The chief of MP Promotions, who is based here in Vegas, was straightforward in saying Pacquiao was robbed of victory against Mario Barrios.
“I hate this sport. This is the ugly side of boxing. This is the side in the last 37 years (of his involvement) that I want to get out of it. It’s so sad to me,” said Gibbons in front of reporters.
Gibbons, an ex-fighter and now boxing promoter, manager and matchmaker, said Pacquiao “was robbed of a chance to make history.”
“The guys I was sitting with had Manny up by seven or eight rounds. Is Vegas gonna lose a ton of money? The gambling aspect? I don’t know,” he said.
Gibbons tried to sound like he was clueless when inside, he must have an idea of what really happened.
“A draw seems to be very weird. How did you guys see it?” he said.
Gibbons expects Pacquiao to continue fighting, and if he could have his way, it should be against “bigger names” like Gervonta Davis, the reigning WBA lightweight champion, and Rolly Romero, the WBA regular bantamweight champion.
He was asked why not a rematch with Barrios.
“F--- Barrios. Who the f--- wants to see him. Manny Pacquiao beat Mario Barrios. If Manny wants to continue fighting there are fighters like Rolly Romero, Gervonta Davis,” he said
“But it’s not my decision. It’s Manny’s,” he said.
One thing that’s certain, Gibbons said, is that fight fans have not seen the last of Pacquiao.
“He wants to fight again. I see him fighting one more time this year,” he said.
