Go vows to continue backing Philippine sports

MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go reiterated his continued support to the sports industry in the country, saying “the success of every athlete is the success of the country”.
Go attended the annual Philippine Sportswriters’ Association Awards Night at the Manila Hotel last January 27 as a special guest.
The event saw several athletes, headed by Olympic double gold medalist Carlos Yulo, feted for a historic year in Philippine sports.
In a statement, the Senate committee on sports chairman reaffirmed his support for the Filipino athletes.
The legislator previously pushed for a higher annual budget for sports and athletes.
He has also consistently pushed for increased funding to improve training programs, athlete incentives, and sports facilities across the country, and he authored, and co-sponsored, Republic Act no. 11470 establishing the National Academy of Sports in New Clark City, Capas, Tarlac.
