MANILA, Philippines — Health and wellness meet fun and sweet delights in a harmonious act as JCo Donuts and Coffee unveils the first ever JCo Philippines Run on November 10 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena Complex.

Six thousand runners from all walks of life are entered in the historic fun run to celebrate the renowned brand’s 12th anniversary in the country.

Instead of the staple 10K category, the 12K run in honor of the brand’s milestone featuring 2,300 participants will be the highlight with international marathoner and coach Rio dela Cruz of RUNRIO serving as organizer and race director.

The 5K category has 2,800 runners while the 3K event has 900 participants following a momentous registration that was sold out in only 15 minutes — all for the sweet prizes and a work-of-art, donut-inspired medal for every finisher.

“This special event not only celebrates health and wellness but also embodies the spirit of a lively community and sweet togetherness. At JCo, we believe that life is meant to be enjoyed and that’s why we created the JCo run,” said JCo Head of Asia John Leung during the media launch Tuesday at the JCo branch in Glorietta, Makati.

“This run is more than just a race. It’s about fostering community spirit, uniting families and friends and reminding everyone to savor the sweetness of life on and off the track.”

JCo Run is an annual race in Indonesia, where the company originated, since 2016 before finally having a Philippine edition featuring a course from the Seaside Boulevard to Diokno and Roxas Blvd and back to the Mall of Asia Complex.

The event will also be in celebration of JCo’s another store opening on November 8 at the SM MOA, where finishers also get to win drinks and donuts apart from their unique medals.

“We’re very excited to see all the runners as we celebrate our 12th year of existence in the Philippines and what better activity to do it with a fun run as we believe in the motto of health is wealth,” added Jericho Eva, JCo assistant marketing manager, joined by celebrity couple ambassadors Juancho Triviño and Joyce Pring-Triviño.

But more than that, it’s for the unwavering promotion of running as the simplest form of fitness and exercise according to coach Dela Cruz, who also organizes the country’s top marathon races and fun runs.

“This is very important not only for Runrio but for the running community because we’re giving them a platform that they can look forward to continuing and sustaining their motivation and fitness goal,” said Dela Cruz.

With Dela Cruz at helm, JCo Run is planning to go nationwide next year with races in the Visayas and Mindanao for an annual edition goal, like in Indonesia.
