SGV Group to host 28th Regional Retired Partners golf tilt

MANILA, Philippines – The 28th edition of the SGV Group Regional Retired Partners Golf Tournament will take place on October 18 at the Orchard Golf and Country Club. This highly anticipated annual event brings together retired partners from across the ASEAN region, celebrating camaraderie and strengthening bonds that have been the foundation of the SGV Group’s success.

As a special prelude to the main tournament, a welcome golf game will be held on October 17 at the Manila Golf and Country Club, hosted by former SGV partners and friends. This informal event sets the stage for a weekend of friendly competition and reunion among the retired partners.

This year’s tournament will be led by notable figures including former Ambassador John Prasetio from Indonesia, former Area Managing Partner of Asia Pacific and Country Managing Partner of Indonesia, as well as Maris Samaram, former Thailand Country Managing Partner and Area Managing Partner for Indochina. The event continues a tradition initiated by the late Secretary Rizalino Navarro, former SGV Chairman and Country Managing Partner of the Philippines, and Dr. Utomo Josodirdjo, founder of SGV in Indonesia. Their vision was to maintain and strengthen the people-to-people relationships across ASEAN, which remain a cornerstone of SGV Group’s enduring strength.

This year, the Philippines has the honor of hosting, following last year’s tournament in Indonesia. The Philippine hosting is spearheaded by Tomas C. Alvarez, a remarkable 93-year-old former partner who still plays the course with a 24 handicap, walking the greens with ease and embodying the spirit of the tournament.

In a first for the event, proceeds from the tournament will be donated to further accounting education in the Philippines, demonstrating the SGV Group’s continued commitment to nurturing future leaders in the profession.

The SGV Group Regional Retired Partners Golf Tournament has become a cherished tradition that not only brings together former partners but also serves as a symbol of the enduring ties that unite the ASEAN countries. The spirit of collaboration and mutual respect continues to thrive through this friendly competition, as it rotates annually across the ASEAN region.
