MANILA, Philippines — A Filipino-American athletic scholar at the government-run National Academy of Sports (NAS) shone at the start of the Philippine Aquatics, Inc. (PAI) 50-meter (long course) National Sports Trials at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex last Thursday.
Riannah Chantelle Coleman, a regular campaigner in the local swimming circuit, broke the Southeast Asian Age-Group Qualifying Standard Time (QTS) of 33.98 seconds for girls’ 14-15 50m breaststroke with a winning time of 33.96.
A protegee of coach Dax Halili of Dax Swim Club, Coleman beat Krystal Ava David of Golden Sea Eagles (34.69) and Jamaica Enriquez of Pangasinan (35.62) in the event backed by Speedo, Pocari Sweat and the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).
PAI secretary-general Batangas 1st District Rep. Eric Buhain said the Trials will be used as the selection process for members of the National training pool who will represent the country in scheduled international competition this year until the first two quarters of 2025.
