MANILA, Philippines – PLDT will rely on Russian juggernaut Elena Samoilenko anew as it shoots for a second straight win against Galeries Tower Saturday in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at the PhilSports Arena.

Samoilenko was like a woman possessed after she detonated a 34-point bomb in powering the High Speed Hitters to a 16-25, 25-22, 24-26, 25-19, 15-12 stunner over the Creamline Cool Smashers in Tuesday’s opener at the same Pasig venue.

“Every game, I want to lead better,” said Samoilenko.

PLDT will face Galeries Tower team that also came from a five-set duel, although the latter did it on the losing end of a 25-19, 22-25, 25-18, 25-27, 15-12 result to Nxled also Tuesday.

And former skipper Mika Reyes, who is back from a shoulder injury that sidelined her for a year, stressed there should be no room for complacency when they battle the Highrisers.

“Dapat hindi kami maging complacent, kailangan mag-focus sa second game,” said Reyes, who scored just three points on her return but the good news was she played all five sets without thankfully encountering setbacks.

Chery Tiggo and Nxled likewise shoot for a second triumph in a row and stay at the Pool A helm as the two face off at 2 p.m., which would precede the 4 p.m. PLDT-Galeries Tower showdown.

Meanwhile, Creamline and Farm Fresh will try to bounce back from their stinging opening day defeats as they battle each other in the main game of a heavy three-game offering at 6 p.m.
