MANILA, Philippines -- Another Filipino is heading to Japan to play pro basketball.

Former Ateneo Blue Eagle Geo Chiu has joined the Japan B.League team Ehime Orange Vikings, the squad announced Sunday.

Chiu, a 6-foot-8 big man, joined the B.League Division 2 team.

"Thank you for your continued support of the Ehime Orange Vikings. We at Ehime Sports Entertainment Inc. are pleased to announce that we have reached a basic agreement with Chiu on a player contract for the 2024-25 season," the team announced on Instagram.

In his final season with the Blue Eagles, Giu played just a little over eight minutes per game and averaged 1.5 points and 2.4 rebounds a contest.

Chiu earlier played for the Taiwan Mustangs in The Asian Tournament.

In a statement, he voiced excitement to play for Ehime.

"I am truly grateful and honored to play for the Ehime Orange Vikings! I am so excited for what's to come and I cannot wait to see you all soon!"

The big man is expected to help the Orange Vikings finish stronger in the upcoming season.

The team ended last season with a 23-37 record, good for 12th place.
