(Updated 5:47 p.m.) MANILA, Philippines – The Ateneo Blue Eagles ended their roller-coaster UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball campaign in a positive way as they made quick work the Adamson Lady Falcons, 25-13, 25-17, 25-21 Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Lyanne de Guzman carried the load for Ateneo, scattering 14 points in the win. Sobe Buena added eight markers off of five attacks and three blocks.

After a dominant start, the Blue Eagles continued to coast in the second set, while capitalizing on Adamson’s 14 unforced errors to grab a 2-0 lead.

Come the third set, the two teams were kept in an intense battle that saw Adamson go to within one, 18-19, late.

After a Yvana Sulit kill gave the Katipunan-based squad a two-point lead, 20-18, the Lady Falcons tried to keep in step with their opponents.

However, Ateneo would not be denied, getting back-to-back points from AC Miner and de Guzman to grab a 23-20 advantage.

An AA Adolfo kill kept Adamson into it, but a kill by Miner gave the Blue Eagles the match point.

An attack error by Lucille Almonte ended the match.

In her final collegiate game, Roma Mae Doromal recorded nine excellent digs and six excellent receptions.

No Falcon ended in double digits, but Barbie Jamili, Red Bascon, Mayang Nuique and Ishie Lalongisip finished with four markers each.

Team captain Almonte produced two points in her final UAAP match.

Ateneo ended their campaign with a 5-9 win-loss record, while Adamson finished with a 4-10 slate.
