MANILA, Philippines – After six years in the PBA, Jeron Teng can now call himself a champion.

Teng won the championship with San Miguel on Wednesday when the Beermen defeated the Magnolia Hotshots, 104-102, in Game 6 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals.

While he played just five minutes and finished with just a point, the bruising guard said he feels like he is on cloud nine, especially after winning the title with the same team his father, Alvin, did multiple times in the past.

“This is the first time I became champion after six years. I am truly blessed to be part of San Miguel and to win one with the same team that my dad played in,” Teng told reporters after the game.

The slashing guard, who won the UAAP championship twice with the La Salle Green Archers, said he even doubted that he would be able to win a professional league championship.

“Finally, in the PBA, I can finally say that I am a champion. I was worried before that maybe I will just be a champion in college,” Teng, who was an offseason acquisition by the Beermen, said.

And now that he has won his first PBA title, he is eager to bag more.

“Finally, tonight, I am now a champion in the PBA and hopefully, it will not be my last one,” he said.

“[Hopefully] this is the first of many. This championship feeling is very addicting, so once you get one… right now, I’m just thinking of getting more.”

The Beermen will try to defend their Philippine Cup title when the next conference starts on February 28.
