NBA fines T-Wolves guard Edwards for criticizing refs
NEW YORK – Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards was fined $40,000 by the NBA on Wednesday (Thursday Manila time) for repeatedly publicly criticizing referees following a 107-101 victory over Oklahoma City on Monday.
Edwards led the T-Wolves with 27 points in the showdown for the Western Conference lead, hitting 10-of-20 shots from the floor and 4-of-4 from the free throw line.
"I'm going to take the fine because the refs did not give us no calls," Edwards said.
"The refs was bad tonight. Yeah, they was terrible. We was playing 8-on-5."
The 21-year-old American said he thought he should have benefitted from more calls against Thunder players fouling him.
"It's all good. It's not fair but it's all good," Edwards said.
"Tonight was bad from the refs. It was terrible."
Edwards averages 25.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists for Minnesota, which at 33-14 own a half-game lead over defending NBA champion Denver in the Western Conference with Oklahoma City one game adrift.
