Cansino signs with Iloilo in MPBL

MANILA, Philippines -- Former UP Fighting Maroon CJ Cansino is taking his talents to the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL.)

The Iloilo United Royals on Friday said that it has signed Cansino to the MPBL.

"Please welcome the newest member of the Royal family. Former King Maroon, CJ Cansino," the team said on Friday.

The guard will bring his 3-point shooting and scoring prowess to Iloilo.

Cansino won one championship in the UAAP with the Fighting Maroons.

He started his collegiate career with the UST Growling Tigers, but the Sorsogon bubble forced Cansino and several teammates to jump ship.

Cansino ended the UAAP Season 86 men's basketball competition with averages of 12.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.
