MANILA, Philippines — Filipino chessers Sander Severino, Cheyzer Mendoza and Menandro Redor moved closer to a rich medal harvest after victories in their respective divisions in the Hangzhou Asian Para Games at the Qi-Yuan Chess Hall yesterday.

Severino led the men’s P1 class, Mendoza, a lawyer, the women’s P1 division while Redor had the provisional lead in the men’s B2-B3 in the fifth of the seven-round standard event.

The final round is set today where the James Infiesto-mentored squad is expected to scoop up mints that they were expected to deliver after accounting for five of the 10 brought home by the country in 2018.
