Lacsina shines in new role for F2
MANILA, Philippines — F2 Logistics drew strength from Ivy Lacsina’s versatility as it repulsed Nxled, 25-20, 25-14, 25-16, yesterday to register its first win in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
From middle blocker most of her life and outside spiker in the first two conferences this season, the 6-1 Lacsina dabbled as opposite hitter and excelled on this one as she unloaded a match-high 19 points that included 15 kills.
Lacsina filled the massive void left by Kianna Dy, who remained out due to recurring knee issues.
“I’m super proud and happy that she accepted the challenge,” said F2 coach Regine Diego of Lacsina. “Ngayon kahit saan mo ilagay si Ivy, kaya niya gawin. Pinataas niya value niya.”
While showing reservation on her new role, Lacsina gladly accepted and did it for the team.
“’Yung una po talaga hindi ko gusto ‘yung opposite,” admitted Lacsina. “Pero sino po ba ako para pumili ng posisyon so, kung ano po binigay sa akin kailangan ko i-embrace dahil ‘yun ang kailangan ng team.”
And Lacsina’s skills helped the Cargo Movers book their first win in two starts and back into the race.
The Chameleons dropped their first defeat also in two outings.
Diego hoped the recent triumph would start something bigger for the Cargo Movers.
“A win is a good boost to the team, that’s the most important thing,” said Diego. “Hopefully, magtuloy-tuloy na although meron pa rin kami pagkukulang kasi hindi naman kami perfect.”
PLDT, meanwhile, downed Farm Fresh, 25-17, 25-17, 25-20, to improve to 2-1.
The Foxies succumbed to their third straight defeat.
