MANILA, Philippines – The San Beda Red Lions have tapped multi-time college champion coach Norman Black as a consultant.
Black, who led the Ateneo Blue Eagles to five straight UAAP championships from 2008 to 2012, will thus try to help the Lions be successful again in the NCAA.
In an Instagram post, San Beda said Black will serve as team consultant who will contribute to the training of the team's big men.
Black previously coached the Meralco Bolts in the PBA. However, he was designated as team consultant this year, as he was replaced by Luigi Trillo as Meralco's head tactician.
In San Beda, Black will be reunited with head coach Yuri Escueta, who played for him in Ateneo.
The team is in a semi-rebuilding mode after the departure of key cogs James Kwekuteye, JB Bahio, Justine Sanchez and Gab Cometa.
Kwekuteye and Bahio were drafted in the PBA, while Ynot, Sanchez and Cometa transferred to the College of Saint Benilde.
