Lipa shares basketball wisdom
MANILA, Philippines — Multi-titled coach Joe Lipa, a true legend in Philippine basketball, has come up with his own book of knowledge titled “Coach Joe Lipa’s Basketball 101.”
“Hopefully, this will be among my legacies in Philippine basketball,” said the 79-year-old mentor to countless players and fellow coaches in the PSA Forum at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex yesterday.
In the book, the coach who guided the Philippine team to the bronze medal in the 1986 Asian Games in Seoul shares his “experience and knowledge” on the sport closest to the hearts of the Filipinos.
Lipa, a two-time champion in the SEA Games and currently a consultant with Terrafirma in the PBA, was joined in the forum by his publisher and co-writer Peter Regalado Lopez.
“The necessary facets of coaching, including offense, defense, nutrition na palaging nakakalimutan, and physical conditioning,” said Lipa, who also guided the UP Maroons to the 1986 UAAP crown.
