Germany's Schroder named FIBA World Cup's best player

MANILA, Philippines – Germany team captain Dennis Schroder has been named as the Most Valuable Player of the just concluded FIBA World Cup 2023 following their 83-77 title conquest over Serbia.

Schroder’s clutch layup stuck the dagger right in the hearts of Serbia, which was trying to come back in the final minute of the gold medal game.

Schroder finished the gold medal game with 28 points, two rebounds and two assists. He ended the tournament with averages of 19.1 points, 6.1 dimes and 2.0 boards per game.

The Toronto Raptors guard was the driving force behind Germany’s perfect run in the tournament en route to the country’s first ever World Cup title.

Named to the tournament's "All-Star 5" with Schroder is Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of Canada, USA's Anthony Edwards, Serbian sniper Bogdan Bogdanovic and Slovenia superstar Luka Doncic.
