Dapitan 5150 promises to be a race like no other  

MANILA, Philippines — Wanting to make an impact, the city government of Dapitan under the dynamic leadership of Mayor Seth Frederick “Bullet” Jaloslos is taking the necessary steps to ensure that their hosting of the first ever Ironman 5150 Triathlon and Go For Gold Sunrise Sprint in Zamboanga Peninsula is not only memorable and meaningful but also one for the books.

First and foremost, all the participants of this grueling yet enjoyable three-in-one race slated on Sept. 10 will get a chance to know more about the life and works of Dr. Jose P. Rizal, the country’s national hero who spent tediously unexciting yet abundantly fruitful years as a political exile in Dapitan during the Spanish colonial period from 1892 to 1896.

The swim course will commence near the Punto de Desembarco De Rizal along Sunset Boulevard, while the bike stage will take cyclists towards Dapitan City Hall and the Dipolog-Oroquieta National Road. The run course will guide the athletes back to Punto de Desembarco, allowing them to experience the city’s rich heritage as they pass by historical landmarks and heritage houses.

It’s also an opportune time for triathletes here and abroad to enjoy Dapitan’s vast array of tourist attractions including the world-renowned Dakak Park and Beach Resort, a one-of-a-kind destination with lots of leisure activities to offer making it the ‘Southern Paradise’ for every traveler.

On top of all, the famed “Shrine City of the Philippines” offers the biggest cash prize in the history of 5150 Triathlon amounting to a total of P756,000.
