Gates open for first leg of Triple Crown
MANILA, Philippines — The best three-year-old gallopers in the country take center stage today for the first leg of the Philippine Triple Crown Series sponsored by the Philippine Racing Comission at the Metro Manila Turf Club in Malvar, Batangas.
More than the whopping P2.1-million top prize, seven thoroughbreds try to etch their name in Philippine horse racing history, and become only the 13th “sweeper” in the local Triple Crown.
Vying in the 1,600m race are Istulen Ola (John Alvin Guce), Jaguar (Jeffril Zarate) La Trouppei (Kelvin Abobo), Tell Bell (Jonathan Hernandez), Easy Does It (Jomel Estorque), Gintong Hari (Isaac Aguila) and Going East (Andreu Villegas).
Philracom chairman Reli de Leon expects a slam-bang affair also featuring the country’s top jockeys.
