Ateneo jungolfers dominate mid-school division

MANILA, Philippines — The Ateneo de Manila Grade School Junior Golf Team dominated the Middle School Division in the recently concluded 2022 JGFP Interschool Golf Championships.

The ADMU MS Team 1 was the run-away winner with a total score of 322 points, followed by De La Salle Zobel with 186 and Xavier School with 181.

ADMU MS Team 2 missed a podium finish by two points.

The ADMU MS Team 1 was bannered by two-time Junior World veteran Race Manhit together with Lujo Gomez, Javie Bautista and Juanton Cruz.

“We have a very strong team at the Ateneo Grade School. I believe that this group of kids will be dominating their divisions for the coming years,” said Ateneo Grade School Team coach Jong Castañeda.

“We are continuously developing the golf program here in the Ateneo. Our hope is to continuously produce champion teams and players like alumni Aidric Chan and Carl Corpus. We thank the parents for their continuous support of the boys.”

The individual winners were Race Manhit, champion, MS Boys Division; Lujo Gomez, third, MS Boys Division; and Luis Espinosa, second, LS Boys Division. The ADMU Senior High School Team placed third in team play.
