MANILA, Philippines — Kristel Macrohon and Vanessa Sarno, both potential bets for the 2024 Paris Olympics, made good showing in Women’s 71kg Group B in the IWF World Championships in Bogota, Colombia.
Macrohon topped the group and wound up in the Top 10 with a total lift of 232 kgs (104 in snatch and 128 clean and jerk) in the event topped by Romanian Loredana Elena Toma (256kg).
Sarno played through a sore right hand she hurt in training, successfully lifted 224 kgs for fourth in Group B and earned Olympic qualifying points like Macrohon.
The Philippines won three gold medals in the event courtesy of Tokyo Olympics champ Hidilyn Diaz.
