MANILA, Philippines — With a strong finishing kick, Terrafirma derailed Blackwater’s grand plans of marking the PBA Governors’ Cup resumption with a first victory after a long-running 24-game skid.

Behind an Antonio Hester-led fightback, the Dyip wiped out the Bossing’s 12-point advantage to steal a 109-103 victory and boost their own bid yesterday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Hester fired 14 of his 41 points in the last 5:28 as the no-quit Terrafirma pulled off their second win in six games in dramatic come-from-behind fashion and arrested a three-game slide.

In the process, the Dyip sent the winless Bossing reeling to their sixth setback of the tournament, their 25th straight dating back to the 2020 Philippine Cup bubble in Clark.

“They’re not the only team desperate for wins. We’re in the same position as them. I wouldn’t put us above anybody right now,” said Hester, who complemented his huge point production with 13 rebounds, three assists and three steals.

“We’re working hard just like any other team in this league right now. It may not show at the beginning but since the break, we’ve been progressing as a team, being together and working. It showed tonight, being down and fighting back into the game and finishing strong,” he added.

Import Shawn Glover debuted with 35 markers and 17 boards for Blackwater, which for a while looked headed towards ending the longest losing streak in PBA history.
