MANILA, Philippines — Jarvey Gayoso sizzled with five goals as the Azkals Developmental Team (ADT) routed Mendiola FC, 9-0, and secured a semifinal seat in the Copa Paulino Alcantara Saturday in Carmona, Cavite.
Gayoso broke the ice from the spot 16 minutes into the game then connected with four more strikes (38th, 52nd, 72nd and 75th minutes) to power the ADT to the full three points in the crucial Group B match at the PFF National Training Center.
Dennis Cung (29th), Christian Rontini (33rd), Mar Vincent Diano (35th) and Sandro Reyes (76th) joined the scoring fray as the U-23 Azkals finished second in the group and arranged a knockout semis duel with Group A topnotcher Stallion Laguna tomorrow.
“We wanted to keep working hard no matter what the scoreline was,” said Gayoso. “It was a do-or-die match so we had to make sure we got the win.”
It was a mighty bounceback for ADT after a 0-2 defeat to Kaya FC Iloilo.
