There’s still no stopping Aquastars

John Bryan Ulanday - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The MJAS Zenith-Talisay Aquastars claimed another victim in their hot roll in the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup yesterday, dominating the Tabogon Voyagers, 104-75, to stay unbeaten at the Alcantara Civic Center in Cebu.

Six players hit twin digits for the Aquastars led by Jaymar Gimpayan and Joshua dela Cerna with 14 points apiece as they scored a seventh win in as many games to stay on top of the standings.

Jan Jamon (12), Egie Boy Mojica (11), Dave Moralde (11) and Patrick Cabahug (11) also did their share in Talisay’s latest blowout win after routing Tubigon Bohol the other night, 97-65, to open the second round.

“We just followed our game plan, which is to focus more on defense. We know we are now the target of everybody because of our unbeaten run, but we will just keep on working every practice and every game,” said Dela Cerna.

With little to no rest, Talisay started flat and trailed at 7-16 but quickly regained dominant form with a suffocating 40-12 blast to create a 47-28 halftime separation.

The Aquastars, who won their first six matches by an average of 23 points, led by as huge as 34 points heading home.
