MANILA, Philippines — Games and Amusements Board (GAB) chairman Abraham “Baham” Mitra tested positive for COVID-19 last March 11, two days after experiencing getting a fever.

He is currently staying in a quarantine facility in his hometown in Puerto Princesa, Palawan as part of protocols.

“I’m alright. Fever lang last March 9 then wala na up to now symptoms,” Mitra told The STAR yesterday.

Mitra, a former Palawan congressman, has been at the forefront of the return of the PBA and other pro leagues under the new normal. His job as chief of the government body for professional sports calls for him to travel to venues of bubble tournaments every now and then but didn’t yield a positive result until this week.

“Baham has always followed all safety protocols, especially in his recent travels to other provinces in connection with his work,” Mitra’s older brother Jorge said in a Facebook post Tuesday.
