MANILA, Philippines — The elections for the new volleyball group will push through as scheduled on Monday even without one of the sport’s stakeholders the Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF).

The development came after Edgardo Cantada withdrew the PVF’s participation in the polls to be surpervised by the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC).

The exercise will be participated in by representatives from the Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas, Inc. (LVPI), Philippine Superliga (PSL) and an alliance composed of Ramon Suzara, the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) and the Beach Volleyball Republic (BVR).

“We respect their (PVF) decision but it was a missed opportunity,” said POC president Abraham Tolentino. “However, we have to move on for the good of volleyball. We will proceed.”

The PVF, represented by Ottie Camangian, attended last Saturday’s unity talks where the majority agreed to form a new group.

The PVF would have gotten four of the 13 slots to the executive board of the group being formed, including the positions of chairman and auditor, had it not rejected the plan.
