MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association hopes for a government nod on a training bubble for the national team in November as part of their preparation to qualify more athletes to the Tokyo Olympics.
PATAFA president Philip Ella Juico said they are looking at La Salle-Canlubang in Laguna and/or Vermosa in Imus, Cavite as target venue to house and train around 21 to 22 athletes and 10 coaches for a month starting Nov. 1.
SEAG gold medalists Christine Hallasgo (marathon), Sarah Dequinan (heptathlon), Aries Toledo (decathlon), Clinton Bautista (110m hurdles) and Melvin Calano (javelin) are among the national pool members to join the training. If plans push through, the Nationals would later be shuttled to the New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac for the National Championships.
