MANILA, Philippines — Another “Eala” is on the rise.

Miko Eala, elder brother of reigning Australian Open girls’ doubles champion Alex, has committed to play collegiate tennis for Penn State University in the prestigious US NCAA Division I.

The Eala siblings are both distinguished scholars in Spain under the Rafael Nadal Academy (RNA), which announced Miko’s next stint over the weekend.

“Miko will be attending Penn State University next fall. Not only will he start his college studies there but he will also play for their tennis team in Division I,” said the academy of tennis legend and current world No. 1 player Rafael Nadal.

“We are very proud of you and we hope that you have the best experience in Penn State. Congratulations Miko and best of luck for this new adventure. Mabuhay!”

A 17-year-old athlete, Miko introduced himself to the tennis scene after ruling the boys’ singles in the Hellenic Banks Masters Tennis Academy tournament held in Cyprus last year.
