MANILA, Philippines — More players threw their hats in an all-out drive of Filipino athletes to help the frontliners combat the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Taking the cue from ex-Ateneo setter Jia Morado, former La Salle standout and current F2 Logistics star spiker Ara Galang is also auctioning her UAAP jersey aimed at raising more  funds for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and masks for health workers.

Fans and supporters may bid for the jerseys of Morado (No. 12) and Galang (No. 8) until April 1 and 2, respectively. Bid starts at P1, 200 with increments of P100.

In partnership with Every Little Thing Counts, Morado has also called on the public to donate at least P10 pesos from their GCash accounts. The campaign has reached over P200,000 at press time.

May Twenty Ako charity organization, meanwhile, has launched its own fund-raising drive with La Salle Lady Spikers facilitator Michelle Cobb and NU Lady Bullpups guard Christiana Dimaunahan announcing their jersey-auctions.

More collegiate athletes are expected to join the campaign led by former UAAP MVPs Sisi Rondina from Santo Tomas and La Salle’s Majoy Baron, UP brothers/teammates Juan and Javi Gomez De Liano as well as ex-Tigers guard Renzo Subido.

“Please support as I will be auctioning one of my jerseys in the hashtag #MayTwentyAko campaign in support for the homeless and frontliners who are at great risk of COVID-19,” said Cobb.

All proceeds will be used for meals, alcohols, soaps, masks and PPEs of homeless families, informal workers and frontliners.
