MANILA, Philippines — The HERO Golf Cup, an annual charity golf tournament organized by the Help Educate and Rear Orphans (HERO) Foundation, Inc., will be staged Friday at the Camp Aguinaldo Golf Club.
Now on its fifth year, the tournament will raise funds to support the educational needs of orphaned children and dependent siblings of soldiers, who were permanently incapacitated or killed in service or during disaster relief operations.
Tickets to this year’s golf tournament cost P2,500, inclusive of green fees, lunch and raffle. Tee-off time is from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Founded in 1988, HERO Foundation Inc. is a non-stock, non-profit organization committed to help orphans of Filipino soldiers finish school and become their family’s future breadwinners. Currently, the foundation supports 499 scholars nationwide and has helped a total of 2,689 scholars since it started. The majority of military orphans are in Mindanao (50 percent) while the rest are in Luzon (30 percent) Visayas (12 percent) and NCR (eight percent).
