Bill Shaw Classic offers bonanza

MANILA, Philippines — A grand list of cars and a motorcycle will be up for grabs in the annual Bill Shaw Golf Classic, which gets underway Wednesday at the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club in Mandaluyong City.

A Mercedes-Benz GLC 200, Jeep Renegade from CATS Motors and Lexus UX 200 F-Sport from Lexus are among those staked as hole-in-one prizes in all par-3 holes at Wack Wack’s East and West courses.

Also offered as prizes for aces in the four-day tournament are a Mazda 3 from ANC Group, Mitsubishi Xpander from Union Motors, Toyota Vios XE from Toyota Otis and Cherry Tiggo 2 from Foton-United Asia Automotive Group.

A total of 700 players featuring 350 two-man teams make up the 31st staging of Wack Wack’s centerpiece tournament co-presented by San Miguel Corp., Yakult and Pilipinas Shell.

The event actually kicks off tomorrow with Wack Wack president Lawrence Tan leading the ceremonial drive with Asia Car Distributor Corp. president Spencer Yu, Yakult vice president Michael Ong and Pilipinas Shell vice president for Wholesale Commercial Fuels Dennis Javier.

Tan, Yu, Ong and Javier, plus the other members of Wack Wack board of directors, are also expected to participate in the sponsors’ and media day side event of Bill Shaw, also backed by Chronos and D&L (Platinum) and Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Diamond), as well as the opening night cocktails.

The Gold sponsors are Meralco, RGB, Pampanga Rep. Mikey Arroyo, Stradcom, Cebu Pacific, China Airlines, First Sunday Group, DDT Konstrakt, ICTSI-PGTI, Asia Traders Corp., Peerless Products, Resorts World Manila, EVA Air, Moven Pick, GG&A Clubshares, VMJ, Boysen and 3D Northern Islands.
