Pacquiao hits triple-double in Calgary
MANILA, Philippines — Alvin Pasaol and the Zamboanga Family’s Brand Sardines handed Imus-Luxxe Slim a sound beating while Sen. Manny Pacquiao dazzled the crowd with a rare triple-double in the Chooks-to-Go/MPBL Lakan Cup “Canada Invasion” yesterday at the Seven Chiefs Sportsplex in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Zamboanga clobbered Gerald Anderson and the Bandera, 88-72, to remain in sixth place in the league’s Southern Division with a 17-10 record.
Pasaol finished with 21 points and six rebounds to lead the Family’s Brand Sardines-owned Zamboanga to its fourth straight victory.
Raffy Reyes and Reggie Morido, along with Pasaol, capped off the first half with seven unanswered points to turn an eight-point lead into a 46-31 gap.
The Chooks-to-Go 3x3 star continued the assault, firing five points in an 8-0 run for Zamboanga’s biggest lead of the game at 23, 54-31, with 9:10 remaining in the third.
Gerald Anderson, Jayjay Helterbrand and Jojo Cunanan fought back with a 14-0 swing to cut the lead to nine with 6:24 left in the third.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao flaunted his all-around game as Team Pacquiao cruised past Casem Calgary, 116-99, in the MPBL exhibition match.
Pacquiao was everywhere, finishing with 31 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds to lead his squad’s rout of the Calgary squad.
