MANILA, Philippines — Extending the country’s 42-year dominance in the Southeast Asian Games is the mission the Philippine Blu Girls have set for the 30th edition of the biennial conclave the country is hosting late this year.
And coach Randy Dizer is upbeat his team can deliver even with an all-homegrown crew.
“We’ll be utilizing our all-Filipino roster in our title defense in the SEA Games,” said Dizer during the Sports Communicators Organizaation of the Philippines (SCOOP) forum yesterday.
“Though we have our Fil-Am reinforcement on standby, we plan to use them in our separate bid in the Asian Tokyo Olympics qualifying tournament late this month in Shanghai, China,” Dizer.
“This team could be one of the most prepared if not the most prepared squad ever formed,” said pitching coach Ronnie Pagkaliwagan. “Pitching is superb, hitting is above average as well as the fielding.”
