Que one shot behind with 66 in Yamanashi

Dante Navarro - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Angelo Que broke a run of mediocre games with a superb five-under 66 to trail Chan Kim by just one stroke at the start of the rich Fujisankei Classic at the Fujizakura Country Club in Yamanashi, Japan yesterday.

Que gunned down five birdies against two bogeys at the back of the 35-36 layout then birdied Nos. 2 and 6 to spike a pair of 33s that netted him a share of second with Toru Tanaguchi and Todd Baek in the Y110 M event (P53 million).

Kim turned in a seven-birdie round marred by a lone bogey on the 10th to seize the lead.

It was indeed an inspiring start for Que, who settled for joint 18th in last week’s KBC Augusta in Fukuoka and it augured well for the Filipino shotmaker’s buildup for his title-retention drive in the Tokai Classic in Aichi early next month.
