Melwin William Tan scores sweep in Super Karting

MANILA, Philippines — Melwin William Tan coped best with the wet conditions and swept Rounds 3 and 4 of the Mini ROK class in the second leg of the 2019 Petron Blaze 100 ROK GP Super Karting Series at Clark International Speedway kart track recently.

Tan punctuated his splendid form with a sweep of the qualifying heats before topping the 13-lap Round 3 final in 12 minutes and 58.625 seconds, 12.407 seconds clear of runner-up Joharry Suba and third-placer Miguel Judd Angeles. He ruled the next day’s Round 4 over Angeles and Suba in 12:42.079.

Jerry Choi timed 20:43.685 over 21 laps around the 1.25-kilometer track in Round 3 and a quicker 17:38.466 in Round 4 to clinch the leg’s ROK veterans titles over Ephraim Mandal and William Tan, while Japan’s Takatsu Masakatsu and Arvin Drueco split top honors in the ROK master class.

Vortex Suba dominated the qualifying heats and the final of Formula Cadet Novice class in Round 3 over Xeane Oliver Fredeluces and Mariano Axel Nocom, but yielded top honors in placing second to Alonso Marcis Lacambra in the next round of the combined race with the Petron Academy Cadet class.

In the 10-lap Petron Academy Intermediate class, Shaniah Quinones never yielded the front in all three races to best Luigi Co and third-placer Zebb Etebe.
